ProCAT Portable Low-Cost Spectrum Analyzer
ProCAT Portable is a low-cost, full-functioned 8-channel spectrum analyzer housed in a lightweight, compact, portable chassis that easily connects to a notebook computer. This new analyzer is designed and optimized for frequency-domain vibration analysis, and has additional key features for stress screening that are available in no other instrument. ProCAT Portable is the perfect tool for HALT/HASS tests with 6DoF systems, and may be used with any type product, fixture, or shaker. It is the least expensive full-functioned spectrum analyzer on the market, has 8 real-time input channels, is the easiest to use, has the highest resolution of any analyzer on the market, and is the only instrument product offering analysis functions in the fatigue domain, in addition to the usual frequency domain functions.
ProCAT Portable's powerful analysis functions include the basic core of FFTs with phase, PSDs, Transfer Functions with coherence, and Waterfall Plots. It displays all 8 input waveforms in the time domain, and in the frequency domain displays single or quad, log or linear, 12.5k-line spectrum plots, which can be successively zoomed by painting the range of interest with the mouse. Save and recall, overlay with tolerance option, and flexible export functions operate in both single and quad display modes. Selectable input ranges, weighting windows, averaging, and smoothing are provided.
The analysis software also includes GHI System's proprietary Damage Potential Spectrum function, DP(f), which is based on the modal velocity spectrum and directly measures fatigue accumulation in parts under vibration loading. DP(f) is the single most powerful analytic tool for predicting resonance-related fatigue, and is the only relevant metric that can used for comparing the real fatiguing rate at various places on a device, within a screening chamber, between different chambers, or between end-use environments and screening tests.
