Nuance Communications a provider of speech recognition and speech synthesis software, announced that it will acquire BeVocal, a provider of self-service customer care tools that address business requirements of the mobile communications market.
The acquisition will allow Nuance's existing product portfolio to expand to mobile customer lifecycle management and a range of premium services for the mobile consumer.
The synergy also enables Nuance to include applications that can be delivered through additional channels such as Web and SMS, allowing increasingly data-savvy subscribers the ability to self-serve in their preferred channel. According to Nuance, since the applications have been designed specifically for wireless service providers and other companies focused on the mobile market, it plans to make the most of every customer contact, including handset activation, customer care, intelligent promotional offers, and sales and fulfillment of add-on features.
According to industry data reported by Nuance Communications, the current two billion global mobile subscribers are expected to increase to three billion subscribers by 2010. With this increase in subscription base, Nuance strives to address the significant domestic and global requirements necessary to reduce costs, increase revenue and improve mobile customer satisfaction.
