The ICs enable the designer to create CD players offering a wide range of features, yet requiring no adjustment or maintenance. The CD player chip sets are capable of supporting the most popular 3-beam pick- up head (PUH) models from eight leading manufacturers. In comparison, many other suppliers' chip sets are often dedicated to specific PUHs. For a standard CD player requiring low component count, Toshiba offers the TC9457 chipset. The TC9457F itself includes an adjustment-free digital servo DSP and a built-in CMOS 4-bit microcontroller with available I/Os for LCD/LED driving and key scanning.
The TC9457 comes with the TA2153, a bipolar RF amplifier, and the TA2125 bipolar 5- channel motor driver IC. Incorporating all of the firmware and circuitry required for standard CD player functionality, the TC9457 minimises the need for additional software development. The device operates from a supply voltage of 5V and is housed in a 100-pin QFP package.
