Designed for military use, the PPC G4C is CompactPCI single board computer (SBC) with real-time processing and simultaneous uninterrupted dual channel gigabit Ethernet. Vista Controls says they've designed this G4 Power PC processor board to increase efficiency of networking performance in tough environments. Available in extended temperature, rugged, air- and conduction-cooled versions, the board is compliant with ANSI/VITA 20.1-2002 and ANSI/VITA-20 PMC conduction cooled standards.
In a standard 6U x 160mm module with 64 bit CompactPCI interface, the PPC G4C has a PowerPC 7457 with AltiVec RISC processor that operates at speeds of up to 1GHz. Its dual onboard PICMG 2.16 1000 BaseT (GbE) Ethernet ports are tied to dual-ported packet memory to allow the CPU to concentrate on real-time issues instead of grabbing TCP data packets, according to Vista Controls.
The PPC G4C also offers dual 64 bit/66MHz PMC sites with 3.3 and 5V universal I/O choices, signal-level integrity, and high PMC bandwidth for numerous high-speed I/O and on-board resource expansion via differential protocols, including Ethernet, FibreChannel, ATM, or other high-speed, LVDS serial fabric architectures. The board has 2MB of external L3 SBSRAM cache, from 512MB to 1GB of on-board SDRAM, 64 KB of NOVRAM, and 128MB of program flash with write-protected boot area and onboard programming, watchdog and real-time operating system timers, four synchronous/asynchronous RS-232/422 serial ports, 16 bit individually programmable I/O TTL/VTTL I/O lines with interrupts, and optional 50K to 600K gate FPGA with user programmable I/O.
The PPC G4C is available first quarter of 2004 and priced at $7,100.
