Aimed at automation systems in the harsh environments encountered in transport and industrial control, Fastwel has just introduced a 110 x 150 mm single board computer that operates over a -40C to +105C temperature range.
The heart of this board is anx86-compatiable VEGA processor from SMicroelectronics with MMX support and Pentium-II performance. It also includes the LynxEM+ graphical controller with a 4MB integrated video memory, consumes
only 1W and is able to operate with two independent video interfaces (Dual
Besides standard CRT monitors, it is compatible with flat TFT and DSTN displays, and supports display resolution of up to 1024x768 pixels. Depending on the version, CPB902 is available with soldered 32MB RAM or 128MB RAM and solid-state 16MB flash memory. In case more memory is needed CPB902 can support solid-state CompactFlash storage drives or standard form factors hard disk drives with IDE interface.
CPB902 incorporates a range of I/O ports including six RS-232 ports, four of which support RS-422/485, allow the connectivity with a variety of low-level peripheral devices at data rates up to 921 Kb/s, sufficient for real-time data transfer.
Two high-speed Ethernet 10/100 Mb/s ports allow integrating CPB902 into process automation network system with reservation of data flow channels. Two USB ports (1.1) are incorporated for connection to a range of peripheral devices, as are standard LTP, PS/2 and floppy disc interfaces.
This board is designed for either hardware or non-maskable interrupt operation on contingencies. An onboard real-time clock along with two watchdog timers is included to allow the system reset in case of accident program hang up.
A PC104 slot is included for the addition of third party modules. As an option the board is designed for either wall or DIN-rail mounting. It is powered by one 5V su pply and consumes only six watts. The board can withstand vibration up to 5G and shocks up to 50G.
Scheduled for availability by the end of the summer, pricing for the CPB902 pricing has not yet been released.
