To provide support for professional audio developers, the target of TI's newest TMS320C6727 digital signal processor, Kane Computing Ltd. has begun deliveries on its Professional Audio software Development Kit (PADK), built by Lyrtech.
The PADK is designed for applications such as Professional Audio (broadcasting, encoding and studio); modification of sound and music and embedded sound generation (games, karaoke, background music and sound synthesis).
A standalone board based on the C6727, the 300MHz, 1800 MFLOPS, C6727 DSP-based PADK includes eight 24 bit, 192 KHz ADCs and eight 24 bit, 192KHz DACS, 24 bit digital input and output ports, USB port, midi input/output, an analog port for external controls and an on-board expansion slot.
A high-resolution sampling rate converter on the PADK allows simultaneous operation at different input and output sampling rates, and to lock to various audio and word clock input sources for multi-channel coding, processing or sound generation.
The USB port is for high-speed communications to a host computer, and is capable of streaming audio in real time, downloading large sound banks, and handling any other high bandwidth applications.
Midi input, output and through ports allow developers to interface directly with external musical instruments and controllers and an analog port is provided for external control inputs, such as pedals and switches.
The PADK is fully compatible and integrated with Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio and eXpressDSP development tools. The software supplied with the PADK is also compatible with Texas Instruments CSL and DSP/BIOSTM.
The kit comes fully loaded with drivers for all peripheral elements of the board, as well as application examples and an Audio Streaming Wavetable Synthesis Solution demonstration. System level development support is available on request for Simulink, The Mathworks Embedded Target for TI C6000 DSP.
Optional Audio Streaming and Wavetable software designed specifically for the TMS320C6727 floating-point DSP, provides an optimized solution for MIDI sound synthesis, based on wavetable technology, for musical instrument and professional audio product developers.
The software also includes an optimized multi-channel audio streaming and playback solution capable of decoding audio such as ADPCM, WAV, and MP3 format files.
The TMS320C6727is capable of processing up to 128 simultaneous polyphonic voices of sound synthesis and up to 15 simultaneous MP3 decodes with full capabilities of mixing matrix and audio effects processing.
