WAYNE, N.J. $#151; Pulse-Link has inked an agreement with Appairent Technologies under which Pulse-Link will use Appairent's 802.15.3 media access control in its ultrawideband chip designs.
Pulse-Link has been touting its UWB chip set over the past few months. In September, the company said it was working with Fujitsu on development of a UWB baseband processor. A month later, the company said Conexant-spinoff Jazz Semiconductor would be the main fab for its RF transceiver.
Now, Pulse-Link is taking its next step in gaining adoption for its chip set by Appairent, the Kodak spinoff that has been a long involved in the development of the 802.15 specification.
Through the partnership, Appairent has licensed its 802.15.3e MAC to Pulse-Link. The companies have also agreed to collaborate on and provide engineering support for additional customization of the MAC architecture.
