WASHINGTON A new federal advisory panel unveiled by the Federal Communications Commission Thursday (March 28) will help ensure the reliability of U.S. broadcast and cable networks.
The Media Security and Reliability Council is patterned after a similar panel that advises the FCC on telecommunications network reliability issues.
Members the council include representatives from media companies, cable operators, satellite service providers and manufacturers. Dennis FitzSimons, president and chief operating officer of the Chicago-based Tribune Co. will chair the council. The chief of the FCC's Video Division will also serve on the panel.
