Comprising two amplifiers on a single silicon germanium chip-one for GSM850/ 900 and one for DCS1800/PCS1900-the PBA31603 targets dual-, triple- or quad-band GSM handsets. The device runs off a single 3.5-volt supply and produces 35 dBm at 900 MHz (55 percent PAE); 32.5 dBm at both 1,800 MHz (50 percent PAE) and 1,900 MHz (45 percent PAE); and 31.5 dBm at 850 MHz (40 percent PAE). In power-down mode the power consumption is 10 microamps. Features include a 50 percent duty cycle with no degradation in performance, an analog ramp signal for power-output control and a logic input for band switching. Sampling now, the device is priced at $3.50 each per 10,000.
