Austin, TX--May 28, 1996--Motorola's High Performance Embedded Systems Division (Austin, TX) announced the sampling of the 68306 at 20MHz. The increased speed will benefit current and future customers of the 68306 allowing for the option to upgrade from the current performance level.
In addition to increasing the performance level, the 68306 DUART has been replaced. The upgraded 68306 removed all previous errata on the DURAT. The 20 MHz version is being manufactured in .65 process technology and samples are currently available in TQFP package.
The MC68306, a member of the 68300 family, is an integrated processor containing a 68EC000 processor. The 68306 reduces design time by providing valuable system elements pre-packaged in one chip. The microprocessor's high level of functional integration results in significant reduction in power consumption, board space, and cost, while yielding much higher system reliability.
