Milpitas, CA--May 21, 1996--A support initiative calledthe "HotShot" program has been announced by Crosspoint SolutionsInc. (Milpitas, CA) The program will provide the company's customers with high-volume programming assistance for its CP20K family of ASICs, soldas field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
As designers turn to user-programmable devices to replacemask-programmed gate arrays, their requirements for programmingassistance will increase sharply. The HotShot program wasestablished specifically to serve this rapidly expanding ASICmarket.
Crosspoint is building a network of third-party independentprogramming centers throughout the United States, and eventuallyin the Far East and Europe. These centers will be staffed byexperts who can provide cost-effective programming services forhigh pin-count, highly complex programmable devices. OtherHotShot users will be third-party manufacturers of high-volumedevice programming systems.
Programming center personnel will receive intensive training andcertification by Crosspoint, and the programmer manufacturers'products will be developed in close cooperation with Crosspointengineering and operations people to ensure the full support ofCP20K devices. All high-volume programmers will receiveCrosspoint certification upon completion of their training.
