The company will now include features it believes are required by the market. Management says that the META 6000 chip prototype is scheduled for second quarter 1997.

Dallas, TX--August 27, 1996--Texas Instruments (TI; Dallas, TX) is offering--for purchase by selected applicants--subsystems tailored toward the unique requirements of digital imaging research and digital imaging subsystem prototype development using the patented DMD digital light switch technology.
TI is offering two DLP subsystem kits for evaluation. The first, DLP Digital Video (640 by 480) Subsystem with optics, has all components necessary to interface with a desktop personal computer, including the DMD image processing board, a light source, optical assembly, color filter system, drive electronics, system documentation, various display modes, control software, power supply, and digital interface card.
This kit, with a suitable video graphics source, allows developers to simulate the operation of a front or rear projection DLP VGA subsystem. The price is $6,850.
The other kit is the DLP Digital Video (640 by 480) Subsystem without optics. It includes all components necessary to interface with a desktop PC, including the DMD processing board, drive electronics, system documentation, various display modes, control software, power supply, and digital interface card. Its price is $5,200.
