Groupe Bull, IBM, Motorola Computer Group, and Oracle Work Together to Port Oracle's Core Database Products to Windows NT for PowerPC Platform
Tempe, AZ--August 26, 1996--Groupe Bull, IBM, Motorola Computer Group (MCG), and Oracle announced cooperative efforts on the porting of Oracle's core database products for Microsoft Windows NT on the PowerPC platform.
By the end of September, Oracle Universal Server will be available to customers using PowerPC based NT servers, soon followed by Oracle7 Workgroup Server, and Oracle Applications.
The porting of these core Oracle products is the result of an ongoing strategic effort by Bull, IBM, and Motorola to expand porting activity and bring key software applications on Windows NT to the PowerPC platform.
Bull, IBM, and Motorola continue to focus porting efforts on a variety of applications for PowerPC systems including database management systems, popular application development tools, system and network management facilities, and messaging products.
Core Oracle products initially being ported to Windows NT on the PowerPC include Oracle Universal Server, which provides data management for applications ranging from high volume online transaction systems, query intensive data warehouse applications, to web-based, multimedia Internet and intranet applications.
