Camarillo, CA--August 20, 1996--Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Camarillo, CA) introduced the VSC7135. The VSC7135 is a single chip, fully integrated, 1.25 Gbit per second transceiver featuring digital clock and data recovery (CDR), on-chip high speed clock generation for transmission, and 700mW power dissipation.
Vitesse Semiconductor is a member of the Gigabit Ethernet Alliance, a marketing group representing over sixty semiconductor, networking, and computer industry companies. Gigabit Ethernet is an extension of the 10BaseT and 100BaseT Ethernet standards. The VSC7135 combines elements of Ethernet with the physical layer technology of Fibre Channel. Vitesse is now sampling the VSC7135.
The VSC7135 operates from a single +3.3 V supply and is available in a 14 mm PQFP package. The VSC7135 is currently available for sampling, and volume production will occur in the first quarter of 1997. Initial pricing is less than $20 for 10k unit volumes.
