Santa Clara, CA--September 25, 1996--Hitachi Data Systems (HDS; Santa Clara, CA) announced that the 5700 Midrange Disk Series is now certified by Microsoft (Redmond, WA) to support Windows NT environments, making HDS one of the few certified companies to offer continuous availability and high performance storage subsystems to the growing NT marketplace.
The 5700 series is a RAID storage solution that delivers mainframe-class processing and data security to client/server environments. Offering outstanding scalability for medium to large scale NT environments, HDS' midrange storage subsystems feature data protection with either disk mirroring or RAID 5 support and full redundancy of all critical components.
Multi-host connectivity brings flexibility to Unix administrators. In addition to Microsoft NT, the HDS 5700 series also supports Netware, OS/400, DEC, H-P, IBM RS/6000, Sun, and Sequent servers. It is available in four models: the 5710 Desktop, primarily for PC-LAN applications; the 5730 Mini-Tower, with superior performance and more high availability features than the desktop model; the 5740 Rack-Mount, a 19-inch system with increased capacity and hot-swappable component options, allowing online replacement; and the 5750 Tower, a free-standing unit with up to 20 data drives, a hot standby drive, and dual controller.
HDS 5700 Midrange disk series is now listed on the Windows NT Server Partners and Solutions directory on Microsoft's internet home page on the World Wide Web at http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/hcl/4_RAID.html.
