Santa Clara, CA--September 24, 1996--Microtec (Santa Clara, CA) revealed that Samsung Communications Systems Research & Development Center in Korea has acquired production licensing rights for using Microtec's VRTXsa real-time operating system (RTOS), with Samsung's embedded Motorola 68000 microprocessor-based telecommunications projects. The new production license for the VRTXsa RTOS continues Microtec's two-year relationship with Samsung Communications Systems R&D Center as a direct supplier of run-time systems and complete embedded development environments. The agreement (nearly$0.5 million) represents the largest order to date for Hankuk Microtec Research in Korea.
Since 1994, Microtec's VRTX real-time operating system has helped some 500 Samsung Communications Systems software engineers to develop telecommunications application software embedded inside ATM switches, Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) optical transport systems, Private Automatic Branch Exchanges (PABX), and digital paging systems. The Samsung Communications Systems R&D Center has also been using Microtec's Spectra open cross-development environment, C/C++ compilers, and XRAY debugger.
