Los Angeles, CA--October 30, 1996--American International Business Technologies Inc. (Ai; Los Angeles, CA) announced that it is moving into the Unix storage market, with an extensive line of tape storage solutions.
The company, which was founded in 1978, has traditionally been known as an OEM supplier to Memorex Telex, Decision Data, EMC, Decision Systems International, and IBM. Ai sells its products based on very specific requirements to OEMs, distributors, and resellers.
Ai is offering its multi-platform, dual-drive storage systems, and board products, and will be introducing a new line of products for the Unix/Open Systems market. These products provide multi-host and multi-port attachment for AS/400, LAN servers, and UNIX/Open Systems. Ai products enable two host computers to access a storage system while each is performing a different task at the same time. It allows for cascading and fail-safe tape mirroring and redundancy. They also work with backup, archiving, and HSM software solutions.
In the near future, Ai said it will be unveiling its new line of Golden Gate tape storage systems and tape libraries. Details on the new product line will be announced soon, but the company said it will include Exabyte Mammoth/a drives, as well as the Philips 36 by 0, Quantum DLT/a4000 and the Quantum 4700 Auto Cartridge Loader (ACL) which range in capacity from 14 Gbytes all the way to terebytes at 8 Mbytes per second.
