Campbell, CA--November 25, 1996--Zilog Inc. (Campbell, CA) announced that it has signed an agreement with Hirotech Corp. (Tokyo, Japan) to develop a graphics display chip for icon-based on-screen TV menus.
Hirotech's architecture eliminates the need for an external memory chip by creating, storing, and displaying the screen image a line at a time. As a result, systems cost is reduced, allowing the use of graphics-based images in low-cost TV sets.
Under the agreement, Hirotech's patented, real-time pixel graphics technology will be integrated with Zilog's digital TV controller architecture. Zilog
