Santa Cruz--November 25, 1996--SCO (Santa Cruz Operations; Santa Cruz, CA) announced immediate availability of the product update package for its enterprise-class operating system, SCO UnixWare 2.1.
The SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Update Package delivers customers a range of benefits including single Unix specification (Unix 95) compliance, expanded hardware support, performance enhancements, and modifications that address Year 2000 Date Processing issues.
In keeping with SCOs strategy to proactively deliver updates via the Web, existing SCO UnixWare 2.1 customers can download the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Update Package immediately and free of charge from ftp://ftp.sco.com/UW21/upd211.
The SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Update Package contains enhancements to make it compliant with the Single Unix Specification (formerly SPEC1170), and receive Unix 95 branding. Compliance with this standard delivers flexibility and freedom of choice to SCO's customers by assuring portability of applications across a standard set of APIs (application-programming-interfaces). This allows ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) to bring more applications to market faster and at a reduced cost, while focusing engineering efforts on improving features and performance.
Existing SCO UnixWare 2.1 customers may download the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Update Package free of charge from ftp://ftp.sco.com/UW21/upd211, or pay a nominal media fee for the update CD. New SCO UnixWare customers will receive the update CD in the packaged product from SCO. Santa Cruz Operations
