Las Vegas, NV--November 18, 1996--Altec Lansing Technologies (Milford, PA) and Motorola (Austin, TX) jointly announced they are combining their digital signal processing and radio frequency modulation technologies to create the next generation of digital wireless audio devices for the computer and home entertainment markets. The application of these new technologies will be showcased in a multimedia theater hosted by Altec Lansing in Sands Convention Center booth M-1232 at COMDEX, Nov. 18-22.
The joint Altec Lansing/Motorola technology transmits digital isochronous data via an RF transmission link, and the digital audio is delivered utilizing a proprietary modulation and error correction technique, thus eliminating dropouts and interrupts. The companies expect that with this technology, consumers can anticipate the same high-quality digital audio as delivered by wired devices, including content from Digital Video Disk and Dolby Digital (AC3).
