San Jose, CA--December 23, 1996--Atmel Corp. (San Jose, CA) announced that it has developed and is now in volume production of a low-voltage, low-density programmable logic device (PLD), the ATF16LV8C, aimed at 3V systems.
The device, the ATF16LV8C, operates at 3V and was designed by Atmel for portable and other battery-operated applications especially those that use a low-voltage, high-speed microprocessor.
The ATF16LV8C, has a power requirement of 20 mA at standby and 60 to 80 mA operating. It offers speeds to 10 ns.
This new PLD circuit contains 250 gates. The ATF16LV8C has eight outputs, each of which is allocated eight product terms and it is capable of three different modes of operation, configured automatically with software, thus allowing highly complex logic functions to be realized.
Because this new circuit is designed with industry-standard architecture, it is supported by a variety of available off-the-shelf software tools from such manufacturers as Data I/0 Corp., Logical Devices Inc., Minc Inc., and ISDATA. Programming support is available from a host of commercial vendors including Data I/0 Corp., BP Microsystem System General, and SMS.
The ATF16LV8C is available in dual-in-line, plastic leadless chip carriers and surface mount packages. Prices for the ATF16LV8C-10 in a PLCC package start at $4.04 each in quantities of 100 units.
