Irvine, CA--December 18, 1996--MicroSim Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced their partnership with Xilinx Inc. (San Jose, CA), becoming the newest Alliance program member. MicroSim Corp. joins Xilinx, integrating FPGA support into MicroSim's newly introduced product--MicroSim DesignLab.
The Xilinx Alliance program promotes engineering and marketing relationships between Xilinx vendors of design/programming products.
The FPGA feature in MicroSim DesignLab includes the Xilinx Universal Library of schematic symbols. With one command you can target your design to an XC2000, XC3000, XC4000, or XC5200 device. MicroSim DesignLab also supports X-BLOX, allowing you to design with high-level data-path functions such as counters and shift registers.
The FPGA feature includes a comprehensive interface to Xilinx' XACTstep software for place and route. XACTstep is called from within MicroSim Schematics and creates the placement and routing for each FPGA. Upon completion of place and route, MicroSim DesignLab uses the actual timing in subsequent simulations. Once the place and route step is complete, XACTstep creates the configuration file for the FPGA.
Additionally, the packaging and footprint libraries include all the Xilinx FPGAs. MicroSim DesignLab includes both MicroSim PCBoards for layout, and the SPECCTRA autorouter from Cooper & Chyan Technology (Cupertino, CA).
