San Jose, CA--December 17,1996--Silicon Valley Group (SVG; San Jose, CA) announced that Lawrence Tomlinson, 56, vice president and treasurer of Hewlett-Packard (HP; Palo Alto, CA), has joined the company's board of directors.
As vice president and treasurer at HP, Tomlinson manages the company's worldwide cash, debt, foreign exchange, capital structure, risk management, benefits and retirement plan administration, credit and collections infrastructure, as well as investor relations activities. Throughout his 31-year tenure at HP, Tomlinson has served in a variety of executive positions, most recently as director of finance and administration for European operations. His previous posts include director of finance and administration for intercontinental operations, marketing controller for U.S. operations, and controller of worldwide customer support.
Tomlinson is a member of the Financial Executives Institute, the National Association of Corporate Treasurers, the Conference Board Council of Corporate Treasurers, and the Institute of Management Accountants.
With the addition of Tomlinson, SVG's board now consists of six members, including Der Torossian; William Hightower, chairman of CADNET; William Martin, retired CEO of Plantronics Inc.; Larry Sonsini, senior partner and chairman of the executive committee of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, a law firm; and Nam Suh, head of the department of mechanical engineering and director of the manufacturing institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
