Billerica, MA--December 19, 1996--PRI Automation Inc. (Billerica, MA) announced that it has received a multi-million dollar order from a domestic semiconductor manufacturer. PRI will expand an existing full-factory automation system at a fab in the Southwestern U.S. The order consists of stockers and AeroTrak overhead monorail for the interbay transport and storage of work-in-process, and Machine Loading Robot Vehicles (MLRVs), an intrabay automation solution. PRI expects installation to take place by the third quarter of 1997.
David Patterson, known for his pioneering research that led to RAID, clusters and more, is part of a team at UC Berkeley that recently made its RISC-V processor architecture an open source hardware offering.
