Mountain View, CA--December 17, 1996--The North American Semiconductor Equipment Industry posted a book-to-bill ratio of 0.87 for Nov. 1996, compared with the revised ratio of 0.77 for Oct. 1996, as was reported by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI; Mountain View, CA).
A book-to-bill of 0.87 means $87 in orders were received for each $100 worth of products shipped.
Orders received from worldwide customers by North American semiconductor equipment manufacturers in Nov. were $936.5 million, up about 14 percent from Oct. During the same period, capital equipment shipments to worldwide customers totaled $1,080.4 million, just about even with the revised Oct. results. Nov shipments were about 12 percent below 1995 levels.
