Sunnyvale, CA--January 28, 1997--Samsung Electronics and Technology Modeling Associates (TMA; Sunnyvale, CA) have collaborated on technology for the design of LCDs, technology that has been incorporated in Liquid, TMA's software tool for the design of LCDs. Liquid is the first design package available from a major EDA company that simulates a complete LCD panel. Liquid was demonstrated at Display Works '97 in San Jose, CA Wednesday and Thursday.
The collaborative efforts between Samsung and TMA represent an ongoing relationship which has thus far resulted in the verification of accuracy of the liquid crystal and optical analysis models. In concert with the collaboration, Samsung licensed Liquid version 1.2 from TMA for use in designing next-generation LCDs. Samsung is using the Liquid program to analyze the optical behavior of the liquid crystal cell and to study the effects of the TFT on the performance of their displays. Samsung is also using Liquid to evaluate new advanced display technologies.
Other TMA products licensed by Samsung include TSUPREM-4 for process simulation, Medici and Davinci for device simulation, Raphael for interconnect analysis, and TMA WorkBench, a simulation environment that unifies the functionality of simulation tools and utilities. Liquid 1.2 is available now for licensing from TMA.
