Santa Clara, CA--January 27, 1997--M-Systems Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) has launched a new linear Flash PC Card. The Series 2000 Flash PC Card offers up to 128 Mbytes.
Flash cards have found favor in a variety of OEM applications, ranging from telecommunications, networking, portable field instruments, hand-held terminals and HPC, hand-held organizers, and medical instruments that require ultra-reliable solid-state technology.
The Series 2000 retains full compatibility with industry standards such as PCMCIA 2.0. The Type I Flash Card provides full disk emulation based on TrueFFS. TrueFFS offers broad support for popular operating systems. It is also bootable.
The Series 2000 8 Mbyte Flash PC Card is shipping now, priced at $62 in OEM volumes (10,000 pieces). Other versions up to the Series 2000 64 Mbyte Type I Flash PC Card are also shipping now in quantity. Beta samples of the Series 2000 128 Mbyte Type I Flash PC Card are available for qualified OEMs. M-Systems plans to begin volume shipping of the 128 Mbyte version in July. Pricing will be announced.
