Synopsys Signs Synario Design Automation and VeriBest Inc. to Sell FPGA Express
Mountain View, CA--January 27, 1997--Synopsys Inc. (Mountain View, CA) announced partnerships with two vendors of Windows NT-based EDA software. Under the terms of the worldwide, multi-year agreements, both Synario Design Automation (Redmond, WA) and VeriBest Inc. (Boulder, CO) are now authorized to resell Synopsys' FPGA, and CPLD synthesis product, FPGA Express.
FPGA Express has generated a great deal of interest with both designers and potential EDA, FPGA and CPLD partners. Since it began shipping in September 1996, Synopsys has received over 5,000 requests for copies of its free evaluation software.
Synopsys will continue to address the needs of the "second wave" of high-level design adopters--designers moving from schematic capture at the gate level to language-based design with synthesis at the register-transfer level (RTL). Typically, these FPGA/CPLD designs are moving to the larger 10 kgate-plus devices. According to Dataquest, the "second wave" is estimated to represent more than 50,000 designers by the end of the century and is dominated by FPGA and CPLD designers using Windows 95 and Windows NT-based software.
Working jointly with Synario Design Automation and VeriBest engineering teams, Synopsys has developed an extensive Application Program Interface (API) for FPGA Express.
By using this API, Synario Design Automation and VeriBest can fully embed all the features and capabilities of FPGA Express into their respective design tool environments. The API also supports linked modules between FPGA Express and the distribution partners' tools to allow independent software development and enhancements of the vendors' respective products. Another benefit of the API is simplified testing of the final integrated solution, and support for several options which allow customers to evaluate the integrated solution before purchasing.
Synopsys continues to provide designers with free, easy access to a full-featured version of FPGA Express software on the Web. For designs up to approximately 1 kgate, designers can use this evaluation software to understand the power and ease of FPGA Express. Potential customers can request a copy from the World Wide Web at http://www.Synopsys.com/products/fpga_pc/ fpga_pc.html or by calling (800) 669-1083. Customers outside the U.S. can request this software from their local Synopsys representative.
