Beverly, MA--Jan. 27, 1997--Eaton Semiconductor Equipment Operations (SEO; Cleveland, OH) announced the company has been selected to provide the high-energy and high-current ion implanters for Dominion Semiconductor (Manassas, VA). Dominion is a joint venture between IBM and Toshiba Corp. Through the agreement, Eaton SEO will be the primary supplier of ion implantation equipment for Dominion. The initial implanters were shipped in December of 1996, with additional systems being delivered during the second half of 1997 and early 1998.
Formed in August of this year, Dominion Semiconductor was established to manufacture dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips, beginning with 64 Mbit. These components are used in manufacturing computers, multimedia products, and a variety of information processing equipment.
