San Jose, CA--January 27, 1997--S-MOS Systems Inc. (San Jose, CA) has teamed with VenturCom Inc. (Cambridge, MA) to offer Windows NT 4.0 on S-MOS' CARDIO-486D4 (486DX4,75MHZ,16MDRAM), PC AT credit card sized subsystems, using VenturCom's Component Integrator, and extensions for Windows NT-based platforms.
Designers of these systems can now realize even greater savings in resources, development costs, and time-to-market by incorporating VenturCom's NT software for dedicated applications such as avionics, medical diagnostic and test equipment, point-of-sale, telephony and communications, instrumentation, industrial automation, and special equipment.
Component Integrator is a software tool designed to assist an engineer with the integration, configuration, and building of dedicated application targets on platforms such as CARDIO. It includes software extensions that support NT in a small footprint (8 Mbytes of RAM and ROM), headless operation of an NT application, ROMable NT, and NT used in real-time and other facilities.
The memory requirement for running the operating system in 8 Mbytes of RAM provides the customer with plenty of bandwidth for his or her own application. CARDIO-486DX4 comes with up to 16 Mbytes (32 Mbytes in the near future) of memory if desired. CARDIO and Component Integrator are sold separately. Pricing for the CARDIO-486DX4 75 MHz is less than $1,200 in quantities of 1,000 and depends on memory and other system requirements.
Pricing for Component Integrator is $9,500 for a server licence, with seperate pricing for service and the run-time extensions, based on quantity.
