Rockville, MD--February 24, 1997--INTERSOLV (Rockville, MD) announced a bundling agreement with the Crescent Division of Progress Software Corp. Under terms of the agreement, INTERSOLV will bundle Crescent Internet ToolPak, a high-level toolset that enables user access to the vast resources available on the Internet, with Allegris Constructor, a comprehensive component-based development environment. Together, Allegris Constructor and Crescent Internet ToolPak will allow developers to take advantage of an open development environment using advanced Web technologies, such as Microsoft ActiveX controls, to easily build and deploy Internet and intranet applications.
A key benefit to developers using the Allegris Constructor and Crescent Internet ToolPak combination is the ability to build applications for the Web in a visual, open environment without the steep learning curve of C++. In addition, IT professionals can utilize existing ActiveX components previously used in departmental and workgroup applications, and reuse them in the Allegris environment to build scalable enterprise-wide business applications.
Specific features incorporated in Allegris Constructor from Crescent Internet ToolPak include two Internet Mail controls with MIME and UUEncode/Decode protocols, an HTTP control to download and parse data from the Web, and a USENET news reader. The combination of INTERSOLV's Allegris Constructor and Crescent Internet ToolPak provides developers with the ability to receive mail from multiple server sites without changing configurations, to create customized World Wide Web client applications, and to have access to key Internet functionality with only one line of code. The integration also allows developers to quickly retrieve critical business information and easily integrate a variety of e-mail applications.
The Allegris Series delivers a unique combination of application scalability, usability, and rapid visual development. Merging true object technology with next-generation Internet/intranet and client/server functionality, the Allegris Series maximizes productivity by leveraging the strengths of team development and component reuse. With the Allegris Series, organizations experience a quantum leap in rapid application development through high levels of software asset reuse, dramatically minimizing learning curves and increasing development productivity.
Allegris Constructor with the Crescent Internet ToolPak is available immediately. Target environments include Windows 95 and NT, HP/UX, Solaris, AIX, Web servers, MS SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, Informix, SQL Anywhere, ODBC, and all popular networks.
Allegris Constructor packages range from $1,199 to 3,999 per developer. Constructor Professional offers a base level of capability, while Constructor Enterprise adds support for Drag-and-Drop Application Partitioning, and bundles Allegris DataDesigner.
