Chaska, MN--February 18, 1997--Fluoroware Inc. (Chaska, MN) announced that its Product Development Laboratory has received accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) in the field of mechanical testing. With this achievement, Fluoroware's Product Development Laboratory becomes the first lab to be accredited for mechanical testing of material handling components.
The A2LA accreditation process evaluates a laboratory's technical capabilities using the criteria of ISO/IEC Guide 25 and formally recognizes a laboratory's ability to perform specific types of tests. A2LA's accreditation covers the following tests: control valve integrity, cyclic fatigue, functional capability, hydraulic burst pressure, seat integrity, seal leakage, sensing range, tensile testing, and thermal transition. A2LA accreditation applies to these tests when performed on the following Fluoroware products and materials: fluid handling devices such as valves, fittings, tubing and pipes; device handling systems such as chip trays, wafer carriers, carrier handles, shipper boxes, shipping systems, and identification systems; and containers such as drums, pails, vessels, shippers, and custom tanks and containers.
A2LA accreditation identifies the specific technical capability of the lab in terms of individual tests, types of tests, measurements, inspection, and calibration. The accreditation process, which involves the appraisal of the competence of personnel as well as systems, includes technical peer review and systems compliance components. Fluoroware's A2LA accreditation is valid until November 1998, with re-evaluation occurring every other year.
