Silver Spring, MD--March 21, 1997--Eonic Systems Inc. (Silver Spring, MD) announced that its Virtuoso multi-tasking RTOS has been tested to make context switch times in 58 ns at the assembly level API and 200 ns at the C level API. The test is done on the TI C6201 at 200 MHz using no-wait state memory. The size of the Virtuoso Nano/SP product is less than 300 32-bit words. Virtuoso Nono/SP, available today as a beta release for the TMS320C6201 DSP, is priced at $3,500. Scheduled demonstrations of the product, executing on the TI C6201 simulator, are being given at the Eonic exhibit, booth number 520, at the DSP World Spring Conference on March 26-27.
Virtuoso Nano/SP is a multi-tasking kernel ideal for asynchronous dataflow applications, especially those using powerful DSP cores as part of a "System on a Chip." It is compatible with the other members of the Virtuoso family of RTOS products and tools. The family of products include a debugger, tracing monitor, and standard I/O library. Entry-level products start at a price of $500.
The TMS320C6x DSP generation from TI shifts the industry to a software-focused development paradigm in which development tools like Virtuoso and TI's C compiler reduce time to market by 50 percent, enforce a systematic approach to software development, and reduce overall communication systems costs by 40 percent.
