Washington D.C.--March 25, 1997--Pentek Inc. (Upper Saddle River, NJ) announced the addition of 14 new VME/VXI general-purpose, multichannel digital receiver boards designed for high-performance communications applications. Typical applications include modem modulation schemes, signal intelligence, cellular base stations, frequency-division multiplexed communications systems, and analysis of many forms of radar signals.
With sample rates of up to 70 MHz and accuracies up to 16 bits, the digital receivers are used for data acquisition systems as well as front ends for sophisticated digital signal processing (DSP) systems. Since the digital receivers down convert selected bands, they make it economically feasible to perform DSP functions like FFT spectrum analysis on RF signals. The single-slot 6U VME or C-size VXI families offer 4-, 8-, or 16-channel narrowband, 4-channel wideband or multiband configurations for frequency down conversion, low-pass filtering, and decimation.
Most of the models have receiver output signals delivered through front-panel TMS320C40 comm ports for implementing DSP functions on Pentek's processor boards or for receiver tuning control. Parallel input options for both TTL and ECL level compliance are available for most of the models. Pentek also offers over a dozen A/D converter boards which are directly compatible with these inputs. Programmable functions for all models include center frequency tuning, input multiplexing, filtering, and FIFO buffer management.
The VME/VXI models start at less than $10,000. The VME Models 6504, 6505, 6514, and 6516 will be available in eight to 12 weeks. The other boards will be available in eight weeks ARO, depending on options.
