Chesham, UK--March 24, 1997--New from Sundance Multiprocessor Technology Ltd. (Chesham, UK) is the SMT324 Digital Down Converter (DDC) TIM. The primary function of each DDC is to extract a narrow band radio signal anywhere within the Intermediate Frequency (IF) bandwidth. This is controlled by the on-board TMS320C44.
SMT324 features standard size 1 TIM-40 format module, TMS320C44 Parallel DSP at 60 MHz, 1 or 4 Mbytes fast SRAM, and two Harris HSP50016 DDC capable of 50 MHz operation. The Harris DDC chips convert the radio signals to baseband signals centered at 0 Hz and provide complex digital samples at a low rate.
The bandwidth and sample rate of the baseband signals are programmable. Inphase and Quadrature (I/Q) complex data is passed to the C44 via the external memory buses. The C44 will then operate on the baseband data to perform spectrum analysis, recover audio signals or modulated digital information. Results can be passed to other TIM-40 modules hosting C4x DSPs communication ports or the C4x Global Bus.
Applications for the SMT324 are focused on Command, Control, Communication, and Intelligence type systems.
