Camarillo, CA--April 28, 1997--Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Camarillo, CA) announced the availability of the VSC850 16x32 crosspoint switch IC. This circuit reduces the cost and simplifies the implementation of high-speed digital data-switching systems used for Gigabit Ethernet and ATM applications.
In addition to Gigabit Ethernet and ATM, the VSC850 is also well suited to other datacom and telecom switch cores, high-speed routers, Fibre Channel applications, and proprietary computer networking systems.
The VSC850 IC features a 16x32 crosspoint switch core with 1.25 Gbps fully differential serial I/Os. It has a non-blocking architecture with standard TTL interfaces for control logic and ECL interfaces for high-speed differential serial I/O. It performs with less than 100ps duty cycle distortion, less than 200ps of skew in broadcast mode, and has a typical power dissipation of under 4.6W.
The VSC850 is supplied in a 208-pin PQFP package with 1,000-piece quantities priced at $143. Samples and production quantities are available now.
