Palo Alto, CA--April 24, 1997--Hewlett-Packard Co. (Palo Alto, CA) and Siemens Business Communication Systems Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) announced that Siemens has selected HP as its North American provider of service and support for Cisco Systems (San Jose, CA) networking products. Under the agreement, Siemens will leverage HP's support infrastructure to stage, distribute, and install Cisco products, and to perform hardware, software, and network support for end users.
Customers purchasing Cisco LAN Backbone Router products from Siemens will be offered a service plan that features phone-in software support and on-site hardware support. Basic coverage is from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a four-hour response time for critical network problems and a 24-hour response time for non-critical service calls. This plan can be upgraded to 24x7 coverage with the same four-hour response and an eight-hour response to non-critical calls.
The on-site hardware support team consists of a Siemens branch installation specialist and a network-peaked HP customer engineer. After initial remote evaluation, the assigned engineer travels to the customer site and provides all necessary labor, parts and materials, and diagnoses, and corrects product malfunctions.
Customers also may purchase additional services, including network support, project management, and network implementation for an additional cost.
HP service and support for Cisco networking products through Siemens Business Communications is available beginning this month.
