Santa Clara, CA--April 21, 1997--Microtec (Santa Clara, CA), a Mentor Graphics company, announced its partnership with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China to create the first nonprofit embedded systems software center--the Chinese Center for Embedded System Design (CESD). Under the agreement, Microtec will provide the products, training, support and embedded technology expertise, while the Chinese government will provide the labor, funds, facilities, and workstations to advance embedded systems development in China.
The partnership is intended to strengthen the infrastructure for telecommunications, industrial control, and commercial aircraft sectors, and facilitate the growth of the Chinese embedded systems market through the use of Microtec's integrated and open embedded software development tools, real-time operating systems solutions, connectivity products, and services.
The CESD will provide embedded development training courses and establish expert knowledge of Microtec's Spectra development system. Microtec's Spectra is comprised of optimizing C and C++ compilers; the XRAY Pro debug suite, featuring the industry standard XRAY debugger; and the VRTX RTOS. The first VRTX training will be held in May at the CESD ChengDu.
