Vancouver, WA--May 23, 1997--More than 4,000 employees of Hewlett-Packard Co.'s Washington entities of Bellevue, Everett, Richland, Spokane, and Vancouver received cash profit sharing totaling more than $4 million.
Company-wide, HP distributed more than $176 million to nearly 112,000 employees throughout the world.
Net earnings for HP's 1997 second quarter, which ended April 30, were $784 million, compared with earnings in the same quarter last year of $723 million, an increase of 8 percent. Net revenue increased 5 percent over last year's second quarter to $10.3 billion. HP employees are eligible for profit sharing after six consecutive months of service with the company. Two checks are issued annually--one in November and one in May.
