Irvine, CA--May 22, 1997--Wyle Electronics (Irvine, CA) announced that its U.K. subsidiary, Wyle Ginsbury Electronics (WGE), has acquired Welwyn Technologies Ltd., a semiconductor programming center. Located in Welwyn Garden City in the U.K., the 10,000 square-foot facility has been programming semiconductors for customers in the U.K. and throughout Europe for the past nine years. The facility will be linked into Wyle's existing five U.S. programming centers.
In the second half of 1996, Actel Corp., the world's leading supplier of antifuse-based field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), entered into a pan- European representative agreement with WGE, while LSI Logic Europe, the world's leading supplier of custom, high-performance ASIC semiconductors, joined WGE in a pan-European distribution agreement. Both lines have been distributed by Wyle in the U.S. for over a decade.
