Tucson, AZ--May 22, 1997--Artisoft, Inc. (Tucson, AZ) announced LANtastic for Windows NT, the latest version of the award-winning LANtastic network designed for small and growing businesses. LANtastic for Windows NT allows Artisoft customers to easily integrate the power and performance of Windows NT servers and workstations into their existing LANtastic networks. The LANtastic software allows users to combine Windows NT, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, DOS, and OS/2 into a single cohesive network.
The public beta version of LANtastic for Windows NT is expected to be available for download from Artisoft's World Wide Web site at http://www.artisoft.com in June 1997. The full release is expected to be available in September.
LANtastic for Windows NT is unique in enabling users of Windows NT workstations and servers to access and share files, CD-ROMs, and printers with DOS, Windows, Windows 95, or OS/2-based PCs on a LANtastic network. With LANtastic for Windows NT, legacy DOS, Windows, Windows 95, or OS/2-based PCs can access and share files, CD-ROMs, and printers on NT platforms running LANtastic for Windows NT. In addition, LANtastic for Windows NT has enhanced network administration, security, and interface features.
LANtastic for Windows NT includes popular LANtastic features such as pop- up messaging, chat, and root resource connections, as well as outstanding administrative features, including the ability to view and add groups and users from a central screen and easily create a template for storing a profile of user attributes.
LANtastic's advanced business network security features allow network managers to define access to hard drives, subdirectories, and individual files by group or individual user. Because many network users have similar privileges, managers can set up standard access control lists for groups of users, assigning identical privileges to many people at once. Within these groups, the manager can make exceptions for an individual user. Security is further enhanced by providing four levels of access for supervisors. This feature provides different levels of access depending on whether the supervisor needs low, middle, or top access and management privileges within the network.
Current LANtastic users will find LANtastic for Windows NT has a familiar user interface that integrates well into the NT desktop and feature set.
The LANtastic for Windows NT Custom Control Panel allows users to customize tabs and buttons, displaying as much or as little information as they want.
The MSRP for a single user upgrade of LANtastic for Windows NT is $69. A two- to ten-user upgrade is $299. New licenses for LANtastic for Windows NT for a single user and two to ten users will be priced at $119 and $499 respectively. Site license options will also be available.
