Santa Cruz, CA--May 21, 1997--SCO (Santa Cruz, CA) announced that Unix pioneer Doug Michels, SCO's co-founder and current executive vice president and CTO, will assume responsibility for leading SCO's newly integrated product development organization, which now combines SCO's Client Integration and Unix Systems Development Groups. Michels will retain his current responsibilities as SCO's architectural visionary and industry speaker.
Doug Michels is often referred to as "Mr. Unix" because of his many contributions to the development and commercialization of the Unix System. He was awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards by AT&T and Unix System Laboratories in 1993, and by UniForum in 1995.
SCO's former head of product development, Scott McGregor, is leaving the company to take personal time with his family and explore new business opportunities in emerging technologies.
