San Jose, CA--May 21, 1997--Advanced System Products Inc. (AdvanSys; San Jose, CA) is now shipping the ABP980-U PCI Host Bus Adapter in volume. Plextor has already received its first units. This Host Bus Adapter is a four-channel SCSI interface for high-transaction network server environments. It allows up to 28 SCSI devices to be controlled from one host adapter, is easily installed on systems running Windows NT or Novell NetWare, and allows for CD-ROM bootability from all four of its SCSI channels.
The ABP980-U utilizes a PCI-to-PCI bridge to provide users with four separate full-bandwidth SCSI channels on the same board. Each of these channels has its own dedicated RISC processor, which increases the host system's performance by reducing the CPU I/O load. The net result is that the SCSI device transfer rates achieve optimal PCI Ultra SCSI performance, enabling high-speed, high-bandwidth, 80 Mbps data transfers to be achieved on the SCSI bus.
The PC version of the AdvanSys ABP980-U is available worldwide for a suggested retail price of $385. Macintosh versions of the ABP980-U, as well as a version based on the company's ultra-wide chip, will be available later in 1997.
