Fremont, CA--May 21, 1997--LANQuest (Fremont, CA) announced a new version of its popular Net/WRx traffic generation and analysis software that provides Gigabit Ethernet testing capabilities.
Net/WRx (pronounced "networks") enables users to define, generate, and analyze a range of network traffic patterns over most networks. The new 4.0 version announced today, extends Net/WRx' capabilities by allowing users to test Gigabit Ethernet devices, as well as generate traffic on ATM networks. Further, the 4.0 release provides platform support for standard PCs running Windows NT 4.0. To support Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with Net/WRx 4.0, the company said it will bundle Alteon Networks' AceNIC Gigabit Ethernet PCI adapters.
Net/WRx 4.0 provides users with a key resource for finding out what a network product can really do in any network setting. This Windows NT-based software provides an easy, economical solution for thoroughly testing network products under a variety of network scenarios--all from a standard PC in a simple test bed. Net/WRx 4.0 generates and monitors a variety of typical network traffic at large volumes. It then reports how well the traffic got through, if it went to the right destination, if packets had to be re-sent, what the latency (transit time) was, and if there was any data loss or corruption.
Backing up its position on Gigabit Ethernet, LANQuest has formally joined the Gigabit Ethernet Alliance. LANQuest has extensive experience with Gigabit Ethernet devices and interoperability, and is well positioned to provide performance tools and lab services to test products in this environment.
Net/WRx 4.0 runs on a single, standard Intel-based platform. Utilizing the flexibility in packet creation and variation, users can direct a traffic stream onto the network containing the product being tested, and receive results back to the same station. Users can control the range and variance of destination and source MAC and network addresses, packet sizes, protocols, fill data, and generation rates within one test. Its standard IP Suite provides test capabilities for a variety of IP packets, including HTTP, SMTP, NNTP, FTP, Finger, and Telnet. Test suites for IPX, AppleTalk, DECnet, Vines, OSI, and XNS are also available.
Net/WRx 4.0 software is currently available in North America direct from LANQuest beginning at $2,495 for a single user version. The purchase price includes Net/WRx 4.0 software, testing templates for IP (including Internet/intranet tests), and support for Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Token Ring, ATM, and FDDI. Testing templates for additional protocols can be purchased from LANQuest as well. Customers interested in the Alteon Networks AceNIC adapter card bundle or bundled ATM adapters can contact LANQuest Sales for pricing and availability.
