San Jose--June 30, 1997--Altera Corp. (San Jose) announced that effective June 30, 1997, list prices of its FLEX 10K and MAX 7000S families of programmable logic devices will be reduced as much as 49 percent. Combined with densities ranging up to 130,000 gates of programmable logic, these prices extend the reach of Altera's FLEX 10K family into the gate array market.
Altera's FLEX 10K family offers a broad range of densities, including the EPF10K130V, at 130,000 gates the largest PLD on the market today. The family's density and low-power consumption provide a system-on-a chip design solution.
FLEX 10K device family members are available in a variety of QFP, BGA, and PGA packages. All members of this family feature in-system programmability (ISP) which enables programming or reprogramming without removing the device from the printed circuit board.
Other silicon vendors price ISP devices the same as those without ISP capability. However, Altera 7000S devices cost about 50 percent less than the same Altera devices without ISP. As an example, the 100-unit price for a 7128SLC84-7 ISP device has dropped to $25 from $61, a 60 percent decline. The same Altera device without ISP costs $55.95. MAX 7000S family members are available now in a variety of packages.
