Redmond, Wash.--June 23, 1997--Chronology Corp. (Redmond, Wash.) announced TimingDesigner Professional, a design analysis tool to support interface simulation prior to netlists, test vectors, or completed designs. TimingDesigner Professional's approach enables designers to evaluate complex interfaces earlier in the design process, allowing greater "what if" experimentation and shortening design time.
TimingDesigner Professional, a sequel to Chronology.com/quickbench/isdpromo.html&lf=isd-sendtolog">Chronology's flagship product, TimingDesigner, is a design analysis tool used to design, verify, and document digital circuit timing using interface specifications. With its enhanced features, TimingDesigner Professional goes well beyond generating traditional timing diagrams and into full interface specification, simulation, and analysis.
TimingDesigner Professional complements various logic, circuit, and HDL simulators, which simulate completed circuit designs. Using TimingDesigner Professional, a user can simulate a design's interfaces prior to the availability of models, test vectors, and netlists.
With its interactive and incremental interface simulator, TimingDesigner Professional can provide quick "what-if" analysis in a matter of seconds. Only those parts of the interface design that change are resimulated. Users will also benefit from the product's worst-case analysis capability, the first to support the entire range of minimum and maximum possible delays.
TimingDesigner Professional enables designers to specify signals as a function of any other signals in the interface specification. Using VHDL or Verilog functions, designers enter logical signal relationships. TimingDesigner Professional then automatically updates the interface specification anytime the input changes. TimingDesigner Professional generates complete timing diagrams, which are much easier to use than waveforms for visualizing cause-and-effect data.
TimingDesigner Professional's interface simulator is integrated with a complete static timing analyzer. The analyzer supports a multitude of functions including signal tracking, variables, aliases, and formulas. In addition, the analyzer automatically highlights violations, removes common delays, and allows for complex user-defined functions. With TimingDesigner Professional's integrated interface simulator and static timing analysis technology, users will catch timing violations earlier in the design process, reducing errors after implementation. TimingDesigner Professional offers a host of advanced interface specification and documentation features including a powerful interface editor that allows designers to specify timing, as well as sequence, data, and event information. The product supports common output formats such as postscript and FrameMaker MIF.
With TimingDesigner Professional, designers can access interface specifications for hundreds of complex devices through Chronology.com/quickbench/isdpromo.html&lf=isd-sendtolog">Chronology's Synchrony program, a cooperative program between Chronology.com/quickbench/isdpromo.html&lf=isd-sendtolog">Chronology, Electronic Engineering Times, and key semiconductor manufacturers including AMD, Cypress, IBM, Intel, Micron, Motorola, National, and Texas Instruments. Using Synchrony to design from the vendor's specifications enables designers to incorporate intellectual property and off-the-shelf technology into their designs faster and more efficiently. Access to the timing diagrams is available though Chronology.com/quickbench/isdpromo.html&lf=isd-sendtolog">Chronology's and Electronic Engineering Times' Web sites.
TimingDesigner Professional will be available in June on HP, Sun, and Windows platforms. Pricing for TimingDesigner Professional is $2,995 for a single computer version and $5,995 for a floating site license. Customers who currently have a TimingDesigner annual support option will receive TimingDesigner Professional free of charge. TimingDesigner owners not on the annual support plan, can upgrade to the new product.
