Moorpark, Calif.--June 25, 1997--EIS Computers Inc. (Moorpark, Calif.) introduced the Fusion Series of high-performance Unix systems using the Sun Microsystems UltraSPARC architecture, yet at lower cost than comparable offerings from Sun.
David Van Beveren, EIS president, said a complete and fully-configured Fusion-1 system has a list price of $7,899, which includes on-site support and software maintenance in Canada and the continental U.S.
A Fusion-1 can be delivered in a desktop, medium tower, or rack mounted chassis and includes a Sun 170-MHz UltraSPARC CPU with 512K of level 2 cache on a Sun Ultra AX system board. Each base configuration includes 64 Mbytes of RAM, expandable to 512 Mbytes, built-in 10/100 Ethernet, serial and parallel ports, 2.5 Gbyte hard drive, 12X CD ROM, 1.44 Mbyte floppy drive, and a Sun Type 5 or PC-style keyboard and mouse.
Solaris 2.5.1 is pre-installed, and each system is delivered with an accessory CD-ROM containing 250 applications.
