San Jose--June 23, 1997-- Information Storage Devices Israel Ltd. (Tel Aviv), a wholly owned subsidiary of Information Storage Devices Inc.(ISD; San Jose), announced that it has established a design center in Tel Aviv.
The ISD Israel Design Center, will utilize advanced digital speech processing and algorithm technologies to design new CompactSPEECH and ChipCorder voice products.
The ISD Israel Design Center is being headed by Avi Barel, director and general manager of ISD Israel, who joined Information Storage Devices as part of its acquisition of National Semiconductor's CompactSPEECH product line last April. At National Semiconductor (Santa Clara, Calif.), Barel was program manager for the CompactSPEECH digital voice product line.
The CompactSPEECH product line offers a family of RISC-based speech processors for voice applications in the communications market, including answering machines and cordless phones. Featuring advanced DSP technology, high-quality speech compression algorithms, and flash memory management technology, CompactSPEECH speech processors offer customers a number of telephone features such as full duplex speaker phone capabilities, multiple-country Caller ID support, and a versatile memory interface that includes parallel and serial flash.
