GLINT Background Information
GLINT graphics processors provide workstation-class 3D functionality andperformance, fully-integrated with fast 2D Windows acceleration.GLINT-based boards support OpenGL(R), Direct3D(TM), Heidi(R) andQuickDraw(R) 3D. 3Dlabs merchant silicon products ship with an OpenGLInstallable Client Driver, providing highly-optimized and fully-compliantOpenGL performance, seamlessly integrated with Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R)and Windows 95.
GLINT MX is the new high-end, scalable member of the GLINT family thatsupports high-resolution displays up to 2Kx2K at true color, seamless HDTVdisplay, large texture memories up to 48 Mbytes and deep 32 bit color & Zbuffers. GLINT MX also accelerates 100% of OpenGL 1.1 rendering operationsin silicon - including Gouraud shading, advanced texture-mapping, per-pixelmip-mapping, tri-linear texture filtering, anti-aliasing, fog, transparency, overlay planes, multi-plane stenciling and alpha blendingwith destination alpha support.
GLINT-based boards are typically used for accelerating professionalapplications such as mechanical CAD, multimedia authoring, geographicinformation systems and digital video editing. GLINT MX cards have beencertified for use with SoftImage 3D 3.7 and with Pro/Engineer Release 18.In addition the GLINT and PERMEDIA processors are the only chips that aresupported "out of the box" by 3D Studio MAX.
