Sunnyvale, Calif., July 30, 1997---Aspec Technology announced QuickPort version 2.0, an automated design tool with new features that facilitate IC design re-use and portability to multiple foundries and processes. The newest features include automated mapping of special nets which ensures the successful porting of an entire design, as well as an enhanced Graphical User Interface allowing for increased ease of use and ease of implementation.
"QuickPort offers true design portability by quickly porting the IC design at the layout level, solving the time-to-market and silicon cost issues," said Leland Mah, Senior Manager, Market Development at Aspec Technology. "With QuickPort, developers can also address their design re-use needs: they can pick and choose IP blocks, combine them with other hard cores and create system-on-a-chip designs which are fast to market and truly cost effective."
The latest version of QuickPort has the ability to port so-called "special nets"---nets in the layout database requiring careful handling due to performance concerns. These often include clock nets and power and ground nets, for example. This new feature further reduces the chance of error and increases the speed, reliability and ease of porting the design.
